Padrón when it rains
We recommend visiting our two museums on rainy days. Less than five minutes away on foot from the town centre, and just opposite the Church of Santa María de Iria Flavia, you will come across the Camilo José Cela Foundation, which houses the legacy of this writer in a permanent exhibition organised chronologically in a historic building.
“Entre estas paredes de piedra […], se hace realidad mi sueño de devolver a la tierra gallega todo cuanto me dio y que es fehaciente muestra, la inequívoca señal de que he vivido”.
Camilo José Cela
It is also worth mentioning that this Museum organises an educational programme adapted to different educational levels, with the objective of promoting the figure and work of this Nobel Prize winner: educational visits, workshops, activities…
You can also enjoy a literary stroll around Padrón, visiting places linked to Camilo José Cela.

Another option is heading towards the Rosalía de Castro House-Museum, which is a few minutes away on foot from the Artistic Botanical Garden. This house, which depicts a rural dwelling from the time of the writer, is where she spent the last years of her life.
“Dicen que no hablan las plantas, ni las fuentes, ni los pájaros…”
En las orillas del Sar, 1884
The two-floor building features a tour of the events that marked Rosalía’s life and work: her history, family, and work by means of technological elements, furniture, documents and other objects.
