Way of St. James 

#PadrónXacobeo because we are the destination point of the boat that brought the Apostle James’ mortal remains to the place where he had preached the Gospel, during his lifetime. The Roman altar stone where the boat was said to have moored still exists: the so-called “Pedrón” is on display inside the Parish Church of Santiago.

This event is remembered in one of the #CaminosdeSantiago by sea and river: the Pilgrimage Route of the Sea of Arousa and River Ulla. If you are arriving in or departing from Santiago and would like to visit the place where the Apostle preached, you can travel along the Pedronía Route; it has been documented from ancient times and can be completed in one day on foot.

Padrón is also located on the Portuguese Way, which presumably already existed in the early Middle Ages. As a medieval town, Padrón arose at a crossroads and has been a pilgrimage site since the Middle Ages.
